BoardLead vs BoardLead Young Professionals:

Both programs are designed to empower nonprofit boards with highly qualified professionals, but there are some important distinctions:

  • Experience Level: BoardLead connects nonprofits with professionals boasting 8+ years of experience for governing boards, while BoardLead Young Professionals typically focuses on individuals with 2-7 years of experience for young professionals or associate boards.

  • Focus Areas: Young professionals boards typically prioritize fundraising and advocacy while governing boards oversee fiduciary and governance responsibilities. Associate boards also offer unparalleled opportunities for networking and professional development.

  • Training Focus: BoardLead Young Professionals receive training tailored to the responsibilities of associate boards, preparing them for impactful service and long-term leadership

  • Cost: BoardLead Young Professionals is offered free of charge to our nonprofit partners. Costs are generously covered by our corporate partners and other funders.

For Nonprofits

To participate in BoardLead Young Professionals, nonprofit organizations must:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

  • Have an existing young professionals board (established at least one year prior).

  • Meet our board structure requirements, including a minimum of 5 members and a give/get expectation of no more than $2,500.

BoardLead has been absolutely invaluable in enabling us to reach outside of our “bubbles” to engage new candidates for Family Legal Care’s Board and Junior Board. Thanks to our partnership with BoardLead over these past two years, we have welcomed two phenomenal new leaders to our Board of Directors and two amazing rising stars to our Junior Board. BoardLead’s webinars have been educational for our executive staff and board leadership, and have prepared our new board members very well to jump right into their first board service experience.
