Purpose-driven board leaders have an incredible capacity to transform the board’s ability to accomplish mission. In 2019, Step up for Better Living developed a strategic plan to address several operation challenges - among them, increasing the number of board seats.
When you start serving on a board, you become so much more aware and smarter about the possibilities around you and how to seize them... I truly believe the more I lean into this opportunity, the more I can get out of it.
We were matched with a fantastic candidate who has a passion for education and a passion for the environment - the perfect combination for our board. She is now a full board member! Fabiana brings great skills in HR and a corporate perspective, as well as the international focus that we needed. Trinity Thorpe-Lubneuski has been a wonderful addition to our board. She has been a very active board member, attending multiple events and giving feedback when appropriate. The biggest contribution has been our increased partnership with Comcast since she joined Concilio, including helping our organization become a Lift Zone Center to provide free wifi connectivity to our community. We have also been able to provide over 300 laptops to our families since Trinity joined our board. Overall, it has been a great experience and we continue to enjoy her presence as a board member of Concilio.
