Associate, Business Development (Full-Time Position, Hybrid)

Cause Strategy Partners seeks a highly-driven, proactive, and learning-minded Associate to expand our company’s reach and impact. This role focuses on business development and sales, strategic relationship development, and inspiring stakeholders to invest in our programs and services. The Associate reports to the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer.

The successful Associate of Business Development will provide support in driving significant revenue growth and diversification for Cause Strategy Partners, while contributing to systematizing our sales and business development functions. The core responsibilities for the Associate of Business Development are outlined below.

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Identify and research target companies and decision-makers within priority sectors
  • Conduct outbound outreach to generate qualified meetings
  • Manage inbound leads and respond in a timely, professional manner
  • Maintain accurate prospect data (both in and outbound) in CRM

Sales Support & Pipeline Management

  • Qualify prospects and schedule discovery calls for senior team members
  • Prepare background research and briefing notes for sales meetings and external calls
  • Support proposal & scoping development, as well as follow-up communications
  • Support new & renewal client engagement progression, particularly by communicating relevant client needs and information between
  • Business and Programs teams
  • Track pipeline activity, provide regular reporting on KPIs, and overall support data-driven practices
  • Manage and support invoicing, acknowledgement letters, payment receipts, and other key communication moments in the sales process

Relationship Building

  • Build and nurture relationships with potential clients and strategic partners
  • In collaboration with Programs team and Data/Impact team members, prepare reports, documents/materials, and outcomes to support corporate client relationship management
  • Represent Cause Strategy Partners at external events, conferences, and networking spaces
  • Develop a deep understanding of our services and value proposition
  • Engage across the Programs and Business teams to regularly ideate around new approaches to our sales, relationship management, and marketing/comms operations

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
  • Identify timely and relevant thought leadership opportunities to drive business growth
  • Share insights that inform current positioning and future go-to-market strategies

Content Creation & Communication Support

  • Draft communications to support stakeholder relationship management, including a subscriber newsletter, corporate partner communications, and nonprofit network listserv
  • Generate marketing content such as blogs, impact stories, and visual assets (e.g., quotes, graphics)
  • Produce written and visual social media content, collateral, and printed materials
  • Assist in drafting proposals and preparing materials for major public speaking events, conferences, and RPFs

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Specialist selected to fill this position will report to Erin Connell, Cause Strategy Partners’ Chief Strategy & Growth Officer. The individual selected to fill this important position will be expected to perform their work in accord with the values of Cause Strategy Partners. They must be adept at a number of core competencies, including:

  3. Champion curiosity and collaboration: The Associate will demonstrate curiosity, openness to learning, and collaboration, seeking new ways of working and thinking. They will be an enthusiastic, creative team player who embodies positivity and embraces idea-sharing.

  4. Strong verbal and written communicator: This Associate will be an effective, clear, and professional communicator, with an ability to make quick connections, leave positive impressions, and build strong relationships with a variety of external stakeholders–especially a corporate audience. Prior B2B sales or partnership development experience is preferred.

  5. Technological proficiency: The ideal candidate is a fast learner, eager to embrace and responsibly utilize new technologies to drive our mission. Essential skills include proficiency with key tools, such as Hubspot (or a similar CRM) and the Google Workspace suite.

  6. Possess familiarity with corporate social impact: Understanding and cultivating a genuine interest in the corporate responsibility sector, employee and community engagement, and leadership & talent development space is strongly preferred.

Please​ ​note​ ​the​ ​following​ ​expectations​ ​for​ this role:

  • Balance of remote and in-person work: Cause Strategy Partners’ headquarters are in New York City with organizational leadership based in the NYC and Washington, DC metropolitan areas. The Associate will work remotely most days, but will be expected to join in-person meetings, retreats, conferences–potentially 2-3 times per month. Given this, candidates based in the NYC or Washington, DC metropolitan areas will be prioritized.

  • Equipment and technology: The Associate will be responsible for using their own computer, phone and other necessary technology. Google Voice services can be provided. All remote personnel are expected to have a computer system which can support remote work applications and meetings–including a reliable, stable internet connection.

  • Work schedule: Cause Strategy Partners’ regular business hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time (ET), Monday through Friday.

  • Employment Eligibility Verification: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

COMPENSATION

The Associate will be compensated between $55,000 to $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and a bonus structure tied to new business development outcomes. This role also qualifies for participation in company health and retirement matching benefits. This full-time position is eligible for generous paid time off, two volunteer days off each year, paid sick leave, and paid parental leave (after having worked 26 consecutive weeks).
