  1. Board Placement:  We partner with professional services firms, corporations and foundations to place diverse, talented, trained and supported professionals on nonprofit boards.  We do this in two primary ways:
    • BoardLead:  Our award-winning signature program, BoardLead elevates and transforms leadership in the social good sector by partnering with top companies, professional services firms and foundations to recruit, place, train and support professionals for high-impact board service.
    • Concierge Board Placement:  Designed for senior executives at top companies interested in securing a seat on the Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization, we find strategic board opportunities through a highly-customized, individualized approach. 
  2. CSR, Corporate Foundations & HR/Talent Consulting:  We provide strategic consulting to corporate social responsibility, corporate foundation, and HR/Talent teams, helping them maximize their business and community impact. 
  3. Speaking, Teaching & Thought Leadership:  We present on a wide range of topics that focus on board governance, board and CEO leadership, and board effectiveness, as well as other related topics.  Our two formal training programs are:
    • BoardLearn: Our suite of online and live learning experiences provide newly elected board members with the knowledge they need to step into the board room with confidence on day one.
    • Advanced Governance Training: Our team of expert governance trainers provides advanced training on various governance topics for corporate, foundation and nonprofit partners looking to hone their skills in the boardroom.

DESCRIPTION​ ​/​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES

Cause Strategy Partners seeks a mission-driven graduate student to join our summer team. The Graduate Fellow will work closely with Cause Strategy Partners’ senior leadership including the Founder and CEO, COO and CPO with a special focus on building internal capacity and pursuing strategic objectives of the overall enterprise. This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to gain first-hand exposure and an understanding of the inner workings of a growing social enterprise.

Each Graduate Fellow’s projects will be customized based their specific skills and interests and how they align with CSP’s needs, but are likely to include the following:

  • Partner with the Leadership Team in building internal capacity and implementing a range of strategic objectives as outlined in CSP’s recently developed Three Year Strategic Plan, primarily through strategic research, data-analysis, and information-gathering.
  • Support ongoing data efforts relating to our flagship BoardLead program, including BoardLead data management, BoardLead evaluation efforts, and analysis of BoardLead’s impact. 
  • Engage in internal and external consulting assignments which could include:
    • Supporting research and development projects to inform strategic decision-making
    • Supporting strategic internal projects to invest in CSP’s team members which could include: the implementation of competency mapping, the evaluation of internal culture and engagement surveys, consideration of organization-wide philosophies and approaches, the ongoing integration of our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and evaluating CSP’s performance along important internal measures. 
    • Supporting external consulting and speaking engagements in partnership with CSP’s Founder & CEO
  • Support all other tasks as identified by supervisor

Please​ ​note​ ​the​ ​following​ ​expectations​ ​for​ ​our​ ​internship​ ​program:

  • Contractor position with a 12-15 hour per week commitment.
  • Commit to the entire fellowship duration, beginning in late-October, 2022 and continuing through mid-May, 2023.
  • The Graduate Fellow will be compensated at a rate of $25/hour.

DESIRED​ ​SKILLS

The Graduate Fellow selected to fill this important position will work directly with Leadership Team members at Cause Strategy Partners and must be adept at a number of core competencies, including:

  1. Verbal and written communication: The candidate should demonstrate comfort with building internal and external relationships, and with crafting verbal and written communications. The candidate should be comfortable with presenting as they will required to present research findings and information to senior leadership regularly. 
  2. Data Management: the fellow must demonstrate comfort with data management, with attention to detail and the ability to organize and interpret large amounts of data. 
  3. Research + Data Synthesis: the graduate will be asked to support the design and build of new projects, presenting research findings and synthesizing data to propose optimal solutions for the organization.
  4. Technological and design prowess: the individual must be skilled in building high-impact presentation decks and navigating Excel, in particular.
  5. Highly efficient & organized self-starter: as a growing organization, Cause Strategy Partners has much work to be done on a tight timeline.
  6. Ambitious & flexible: no two days will be the same. Working with leadership at a social enterprise requires a candidate who is excited by challenges and comfortable with change.
  7. Responsible: the Graduate Fellow will take ownership over their responsibilities & will be relied upon to deliver excellence in every activity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Impact or another relevant field.
  • Track record of working effectively with senior leadership. 
  • A passion for community service and the importance of the nonprofit sector to society.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data Management and/or Internal Operations preferred.

  1. We review your application based on skills and experience with particular attention paid to how you connect your previous experience to the responsibilities of this role and how this opportunity ties into your current academic pursuits. 
  2. Phone screening. We will conduct initial interviews over the phone in late September.
  3. We may ask you to complete a brief interview project that you’ll discuss during the next interview. Though we will give you a few days to finish your “test project,” it should only take 1-2 hours to complete.
  4. Second interview with additional members of the team in late September or early October.
  5. Potential final interview with Rob Acton, Founder & CEO in early-mid October.
  6. If applicable, offer & onboarding in late October.
