Senior Associate, Business Development (Full-Time Position, Remote)

Cause Strategy Partners seeks a highly-driven, proactive, and growth-minded Senior Associate who is excited by the prospect of expanding our company’s reach and impact through sharing our story and inspiring current and potential corporate and nonprofit partners to invest in our programs and services. This position will report to the Chief Growth Officer but will work across teams on a variety of projects.

DESCRIPTION​ &​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnering with the Chief Growth Officer, the successful Senior Associate, Business Development will play a leading role in generating significant revenue growth for Cause Strategy Partners over the next three years and beyond. The ideal candidate will be energized by Cause Strategy Partners’ mission to “inspire the world’s professionals to serve their cause” and know that through an ever-expanding network of corporate clients and strategic partnerships, our company’s ability to advance our mission while providing a world-class experience for all stakeholders will grow as well.

The responsibilities below present an outline, but as priorities shift and change, we’ll rise to meet new opportunities and challenges. Agility, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a curiosity-fueled mindset are critical for this role.

The Senior Associate will be responsible for:

Business Development for New Revenue:

  • Lead the process of identifying, reaching out to, and nurturing potential corporate partner leads, including:
    • Conducting research on potential partner companies and best-fit contacts
    • Drafting email campaigns for initial outreach
    • Tracking all lead interactions on Hubspot
  • Provide support to the Chief Growth Officer and other senior team members of Cause Strategy Partners throughout the lead cultivation process by:
    • Providing company background and contact briefs in advance of first calls
    • Preparing pitch decks and other personalized materials to support the sales process
    • Managing follow up email campaigns with each potential client via Hubspot
  • In partnership with the Chief Growth Officer, plan and execute a year-round content and events strategy for our leads pipeline, including but not limited to: newsletters, informational webinars, in-person events, resources, and other touchpoints

  • Support the development of data-driven practices in business development through regular reporting and analysis in Hubspot

  • Attend business development calls as needed to support the overall sales process

  • Lead weekly Strategic Growth Team Meetings, with the opportunity to take part in ideating new approaches to our marketing, sales, and communications operations

Renewal Client Partnership Management:

  • Under the guidance of the Chief Growth Officer, manage a series of renewal client accounts to support sustainable revenue growth and maintain our high renewal rate for existing clients.

  • Support the planning of and manage the client relationship engagement strategy for the year, which includes:
    • Manage aspects of the renewal process, including scheduling, attending renewal engagement scoping calls, documentation, and subsequent proposal development for select clients

    • Drafting quarterly newsletters to corporate partners

    • Supporting the process of content planning and development for corporate partner blogs and resources

  • Act as liaison to client relationship managers on the Program Team to:
    • Ensure documentation and smooth transfer of information for all scopes of work and other relevant details
    • Gather necessary program outcomes information for renewal conversations

Marketing and Communications:

  • In partnership with the Chief Growth Officer, design, prepare, and send General Subscribership newsletter emails via Hubspot
  • Manage the planning and production of staff-written blogs and impact stories in partnership with program team members and senior leadership.
  • Manage calendar of and identify speaking opportunities for senior leadership of Cause Strategy Partners, and prepare conference proposals, RFPs, and speaking materials for said engagements

  • Edit and occasionally design social media posts, collateral, and other printed items for our various stakeholder groups on Figma and Canva.

  • Other duties as assigned.


DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate selected to fill this position will report to Erin Pierson, Cause Strategy Partners’ Chief Growth Officer and will be expected to perform their work in accord with the values of Cause Strategy Partners. They must be adept at a number of core competencies, including:

  1. Strong verbal and written communicator: This Senior Associate will be an effective, clear, and professional communicator, with an ability to make quick connections, leave positive impressions, and build strong relationships with a variety of external stakeholders, especially a corporate audience. Candidates with prior experience in sales and partnership development will be preferred.

  2. Demonstrated commitment to learning and development: We anticipate that much of the work in business development will require new knowledge for applicants to this position. While the Chief Growth Officer will provide coaching, the ability to quickly learn new skills and take advantage of resources to further grow is critical for success.

  3. Relationship-oriented: The Senior Associate will be a connections-builder, attentive listener, and strategic thinker on how to grow and develop relationships with future and current corporate clients, brainstorming on how to best build their board service strategy through creativity, trust, and data-based insights.

  4. Possess technological and design prowess: The candidate must be skilled in building and using effective program management and team management tools. Ideally, the candidate should be experienced with Hubspot (or another similar sales CRM), Google Suite, including Google Slides and Docs. Candidates should also demonstrate an interest in (or experience with) graphic design tools such as Figma and Canva.

  5. Highly efficient & organized self-starter: The Senior Associate will be expected to take responsibility for tasks and work both independently and collaboratively across several teams. They will demonstrate the ability to manage workflow with a high degree of autonomy, to make decisions effectively in line with our overall strategy, and to do this with excellence.

  6. Possess an existing familiarity with corporate social impact: Understanding and cultivating a genuine interest in the corporate responsibility sector, employee engagement, and leadership and talent development space is a must. Having a solid understanding of nonprofit governance is helpful, too.

  7. Creative & open team player: The Senior Associate will embody a sense of positivity and openness, embracing creativity and the sharing of ideas within teams. They will embody a sense of positivity, enthusiasm, and team-building characteristics..

Please​ ​note​ ​the​ ​following​ ​expectations​ ​for​ this role:

  • Remote work with opportunities to connect in person: Cause Strategy Partners’ headquarters are in New York City, but our organization will remain a virtual workplace for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, this role is a remote opportunity, with the expectation that the employee will travel to in-person meetings and team retreats from time to time as deemed necessary.
  • Equipment and technology: The Senior Associate will be responsible for using their own computer, phone and other necessary technology. Google Voice services can be provided. All remote personnel are expected to have a computer system which can support remote work applications and meetings, including a reliable, stable internet connection.
  • Work schedule: Cause Strategy Partners’ regular business hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), Monday through Friday.
  • Employment Eligibility Verification: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

COMPENSATION

The Senior Associate will be compensated at $62,000 to $67,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and a bonus structure tied to new business development outcomes. This role also qualifies for participation in company health and retirement matching benefits. This full-time position is eligible for generous paid time off, two volunteer days off each year, paid sick leave, and paid parental leave (after having worked 26 consecutive weeks).
